Tony Richardson (FB), NY Jets

Courier News Online - Jets sign Pro Bowl FB Richardson: "After making big-money splashes in trades and free agency, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum made a more sedate move Thursday, signing former Vikings fullback Tony Richardson to a one-year contract.
The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Richardson is a three-time Pro Bowler (2003, '04, and '07), but is also 36 years old and clearly at the end of his career.
With the Jets relying mostly on a one-back offense, there won't be a lot of opportunity for the fullback, who in his younger days caught passes out of the backfield and blocked effectively as Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson put together 1,000-yard rushing seasons for the Chiefs.
'Tony will serve as a tremendous asset in both the running and passing game as well as on special teams,' Jets coach Eric Mangini said.
At the same time, another of the Jets' targeted players, Bears special-teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo, opted to take the Ravens' four-year, $4.9 million offer."
